Hi there!

My name’s Erika. I’m a journalism graduate who hopes to, someday, make it as a professional food and travel writer. Thing is, someday might take a while to get here.

In the meantime, I thought I’d jump on the blogging bandwagon! The Hunger Pangs is inspired by all the mornings I wake up to with waffles or pancakes on the brain, all the afternoons whiled away at work with that gnawing feeling in my stomach shouting ‘feed me’, and all the evenings spent huddled in front of my laptop, trawling through food blogs and attempting to refrain from licking my screen.

Having been raised in a city like Melbourne, I guess it would be impossible not to be crazy about food. I love hunting for, and stumbling upon, places with exciting menus whenever I’m running on empty. After investing in a mixer, I’ve discovered that baking is the logical solution to almost all of my problems. And I’m a sucker for brunch. Big time.

I do not profess to be an expert on food and am a rookie baker/photographer at best. This blog is, for the most part, a creative outlet that celebrates food, family, friends and fun through restaurant reviews, kitchen hits and misses and other bits of fluff.

I can’t wait to meet like-minded food enthusiasts, make new friends – not in a creepy way, I promise – and share ideas on what to eat next and where! Any questions, comments or recommendations are warmly welcomed. 🙂

If you’re feeling a little peckish and haven’t yet had your daily dose of Internet food porn, check me out on Tagroom – I write for their food section!

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Nice to meet you Erika 🙂 thanks for dropping by my blog ~ Welcome to the blogging community! I’m a relatively new blogger myself hehe not so new now but i only just started in November last year! So nice to see a new blogger hehe 😀 please feel free to drop me any emails or tweets if you have any questions! Can’t wait to read all about your eating adventures too xoxo

      • Thank you! You’re too kind ~ It’s just been a great journey, lots of eating, meeting great people along the way and i guess the best advice I can give you is to be persistent and love what you do 😀

  2. Thanks for finding my food blog funny and that meeting foodie people ain’t so scary. After all, meetings are held mostly in public places where there witnesses and dangerous equipment around LOL

    • Hi Ally! Kindred spirits, indeed! Good to meet someone with the same dreams in mind. Maybe one day we’ll end up at The Australian Gourmet Traveller or Lonely Planet together? One can only hope, haha. Off to pay your blog a visit now 😀
